What happened to Japan after the war?...
After being attack there was a shortage in housing and food. The Japanese government had little resources and the tax system was not running because there was nothing to tax. The government dealt with these problems by printing money which led to inflation. In the meantime General MacArthur was focusing on political changes. Before Japan society was focused on military. The U.S wanted them to become more of a peaceful nation. To make Japan stronger a land reform program was started, Labor unions were started, and Japan gave Manchuria back to China and gave up Taiwan. These changes made the Japanese people very happy. General MacArthur created the MacArthur Constitution. This constitution says the Japan could not declare war on another country unless they are attack first.
